Judiciary

Judiciary was one of my horses on my watch list to oppose under certain conditions if the odds were right.
I had a brief look at the odds before I rushed out this morning, was trading around 4.6

Def worth a lay, and still one to oppose if the conditions are right.

Leaving it late

Well yesterday I realised I left out the time and track, it was the 20:10 @ Cartmel, where Thumbs Up actually won by 3/4 length to Mutual Friend.

Today I've gone with Lutine Bell @ 3.3 in the 17:50 Newmarket.
Having run 4 times, 3 times over 7f, all unplaced.
Once over 6f, finished 3rd over GF ground.

Just the one

Today's been an odd day with the weather, with the going softening throughout the day.

I've gone for Thumbs Up, Lay at @ 2.66
It was a tough call between Thumbs Up & Mutual Friend, though with Thumbs Up, only performed over soft ground, and I don't believe the ground has let up that much.

Has managed two wins at 1m1f & 1m2f, both coming at lower class and over softer ground.

22nd May - Temple Stakes

Not such a good afternoon yesterday with 1 winner, though I managed to pull a profit in the evening.

Today I thought I'd look at something a tad different on the side.

Most people know about the 2 million scoop6 this weekend, having rolled over.

I've decided to take a closer look at the Temples Stakes (15:00 Haydock)

Firstly I analyzed the race my own way, that gave me Borderlescott as my selection.

Though I thought I'd have a look at the trends from previous races and see what it came up with.

Findings:
11/13 won with no headgear
11/13 won with no headgear LTO
10/13 finished 4th or higher LTO
9/13 finished 3rd of higher LTO
11/13 won in Class 1 or 2 LTO
12/13 won with between 126 - 130 pounds
12/13 winners have been from GB or IRE
11/13 winners last run was within 30 days
13/13 winners has no carried penalty
12/13 have been between 3 - 7 years old

After taking all that info into account it gave me Blue Jack.

So after all that I'll be backing Borderlescott @ 5, and Blue Jack @ 7.

12th May

A tad tired, so I've only brushed over each race briefly, managed to pull out a horse or two in near enough every race, and managed a couple of favorites to lay.

I've tried to analyze each race as well as possible, though obviously I haven't taken as much time with each meet as I did yesterday with Yarmouth, which produced 3 winners and 2 close 2nds.

Backing a Longshot

How hard do people find it to back the winner, let alone a longshot, odds on horses don't count!
Over the past few days I've been thinking this, how often do longshot winners come around and how do we go about spotting them, I know I managed to place one at 20-1 the other day, finished 3rd, odds to win were 150-1.

20-1 shots give you the impression they would win once in 20 races, or you would win 1 in 20, but surely there is a way to spot these horses before they drift in, before the market starts chucking money at them.

Afterall, the odds compilers are good, but they don't get everything correct.
Which lead me onto another thought, the ultimate trophy for any punter is to get banned or have your account closed at the bookies, a good old bit of bookie bashing.

Now that I've finished college I'm going to focus a lil bit more on backing, I'll start off on Betfair, but will move onto the bookies and see how long it takes to get an account closed, this may come down to quite a bit trial an error to start with, where as I've always layed horses, surely if I can find the least likely to win then I can find the least likely to lose too...no?

I'm planning to study the form for tomorrow's races and I'll place them on my blog tonight or tomorrow morning and at what odds I've backed them, and like I said in my previous post I will try give my reasoning behind each one.

And we'll see where I end up.

JP's Blog - :-(

Hello people,

For a long time I've followed Jp's Blog with interest, as he gives a great insight into the ups & downs of making it as a punter and how tipsters/services work.

It's a shame he has hit this poor run and given up the blog for now, though me like many others, hope he comes back fighting after a "quick" reassessment of where to head next.

Like he has proved other the last year, it is possible to make a living from it, though I always believe why pay all that money otu if you have the time to do it yourself?

Maybe JP doesn't have the time and he goes on the say so of his tipsters, but if somebody has a general knowledge of racing then all the information you need is on the net, just need to know where to look.

On another note, I've always done laying, spent months trying to tweak a maths formula until I had that eureaka moment! though now I have a bit more free time and would like to try my hand at backing horses.
Like i said the info is on the net, but unlike the last few days, I'm not just gonna put up the ones I've gone for, I will actually give my findings and reasoning behind each selection.

Look at something a bit more indepth than just a name, possible look at trainer trends, jockeys stats etc.

I'm came across a horse the other day, had all the form over distance/going, but I didn't back him, and he duly came 9th.

This horse was Elkhorn, def one to back if he come up at Redcar.
Form at Redcar, over 5/6f, Good or Good-to-Firm going, Class E or lower.
Form reads: 11152263

Form at any other course doesn't come nowhere near!

19:50 & 20:50 Hamilton

Was a tad dissapointed Otto turned out not to run yesterday, he looked rather promising.

Today I've gone for Wind Shuffle in the 19:50 at Hamilton.
He has all the form over current CD, Silver Rime looked like a possible contender but being a NR soon sorted that out!

And I'm also going for  Guest Connections in the 20:50, winning 3 times from 5, one of them wins coming from a class up, he came 8th  in a race 2 classes higher, but only finished just under 4f off the winner.

Backed Wind Shuffle @ 9.0
and Guest Connections @ 9.6

7:20 Wetherby

Well lets start by saying the accum last night didnt go too well at all!
Though I've more than made it up today with a couple of high prices winners.

Thought I'd post one up for you quick.

7:20 Wetherby.
I've gone for both Silver Steel and Schinken Otto.
Otto has won all 4 trips over CD.

Backed Silver steel at 7.0 and Otto at 10.0 on the exchange.

Just have to wait and see now.

Afternoon

Hello People, I've been a bit scarce last week or 2 due to my final weeks at college!
Though I will update everything soon.

Been working on a backing system as well in my spare time, though details are still very brief and written down on scraps of paper as I try to work different bits out!

Though it has pulled up 2 selections for today which I'll keep an eye on later.

Both at Cheltenham.
17:35 Farmer Frank
18:45 William Somers

And yes the system is only going to be focused on Favourites.

EDIT: Well Seems I misjudged that one, though Barron Watlass did Place at 3.0
And a quick analyzing of the 14:35 at Kelso lead me to Barron Watlass, I myself can't see Beidh Tine Anseo winning it.

Chester 14:45. Mamlock for the Win, Tastahil for a Place

Well that one was much better, Mamlock & Tastahil photofinish!
Luckily Mamlock won @ 9.1 and Tastahil placed at 6.4.

Now I'm focusing on a couple of accumulators at Huntingdon & Cheltenham.
Will put selections in a new post.

Regards
Jay
